Our HistoryDuring the earthquake in 1963 the object was destroyed and in 1965 was rebuilt with the support of the Governments and Humanitary Organizations of Sweden and Norway. The new hospital was built in Skopje, at the present location on the mountain Vodno, in the suburb Kozle – pavilion systems (4 larger objects and 10 connected pavilions) with 5.000m 2 under the roof. The new hospital had 240 beds. The decrease of tuberculosis in Macedonia was the reason for beginning of the development of another professional and scientific interest, the beginning of the new orientation towards acute and chronic children's pulmonary diseases. Today, the nonspecific respiratory diseases are dominant among the hospitalized patients (approximately 3.500 patients for a year ), but we still have patients with all forms of tuberculosis (approximately 120 cases for a year). In our outpatient department and consultative ambulance annually about 19.000 patients had their treatment. Approximately 95.0% of the patients are with nonspecific lung diseases like pneumonia (37.0%), acute obstructive bronchitis (15.0%), bronchial asthma (14.0%), recidivate obstructive bronchitis (10%), infections of the upper airways (9.0%) and others: acute and recidivate bronchitis, bronchiolitis, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasies, echinococcus pulmonum. The other 5.0% of treated patients are those with all clinic forms of tuberculosis and most frequent are patients with primary lung tuberculosis (60.0%). The number of beds for children at first was decreased on 160 and now it is 146, and 37 beds for accompanied mothers. Upon our criteria there is a very good average room per patient ( 5.0 m 2 as estimated only according to the space actively occupied by patients and for patients care). There is TV sets, small library with books for children and toys. Couples of playground and park are also available. International Women's Association (IWA) organized highly successful 1998 Charity Bazaar with donations (completed beautiful new playroom for sick children and some other meters about maintenance). Accordingly to the Macedonian Government Decision ( 26.12.2005yr.), with General City Hospital transformation, this institution was promoted to Public Medical Institution – Institute for Respiratory Diseases in Children-Kozle, Skopje
